In this session, the blended rainbow tail was done when her tail was almost completely free of old color, which helps achieve a cleaner, brighter result. Prep Shampoo and Pet Hair Dye Colors Used

Prep Shampoo : Before any color service, proper coat prep is essential.

Start with a deep cleanse to remove oils and residue for maximum color absorption. We recommend the OPAWZ 01 Deep Cleanse Dog Shampoo for prep. It removes buildup and grease while leaving hair elastic and glossy, which helps dyes penetrate evenly. Wash, rinse well, and blow-dry. Clean fur takes color much better!

OPAWZ 01 Deep Cleanse Dog Shampoo

Shampooing Steps:

1. Thoroughly wet the tail and apply OPAWZ 01 Deep Cleanse Shampoo, working it in from base to tip.
2. Lather well, focusing on any areas that held previous color.
3. Rinse completely. Skip conditioner so the hair shaft stays ready to absorb pigment.
4. Blow dry the tail until fully dry and fluffy. Use a slicker and comb to smooth the hair so you have a flat, even surface for color application. A deep cleanse gives us a bright, neutral starting point for a vivid rainbow.

Safety First- Always Use Pet Safe Color Only for Pet Hair Coloring

Before you start any creative color service: 

• Use only dyes formulated for pets (like OPAWZ), never human hair products. 
• Do not dye pets with irritated or damaged skin.
• Keep permanent pet hair dye away from eyes and mouth and prevent the dog from licking the area while it processes.
• For first time color, perform a small patch test 48 hours in advance. Keeping sessions calm and positive is just as important as the final look—Daisy’s relaxed energy is a huge reason her tail always turns out so gorgeous.

First Sectioning the Tail for the Rainbow 

1. Brush the tail and fan it out so you can see the full length.
2. Plan the colors from base to tip: red at the base flowing through orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, and pink at the tip. 
3. Use fingers or a grooming tail comb to roughly divide the tail into seven sections— one for each color.  

🎨 Applying OPAWZ Rainbow Colors

• Start at the base of the dry tail with Hot Red, saturating from top to underside. Comb the dye through gently to ensure every strand is coated.
  
• Use foils between sections, especially between yellow and darker shades, to keep the transitions crisp.
• Move down the tail, color by color.

  

  Aim for full, even coverage with clean edges between each section; this is what gives Daisy’s tail that bold, graphic rainbow look.

• Allow the dyes to process according to OPAWZ pet hair dyes instructions (typically around 20 minutes on clean, dry hair—always follow the product label).
  
• Rinse the tail gently in lukewarm water until the water runs clear, directing colored water away from the rest of the coat.
  
• Blow‑dry and brush the tail straight and fluffy again.
  
  

As the tail dries, the individual color sections sharpen and the full rainbow effect really pops.
